A friend called my attention to a recent lecture by a brilliant young neuroscientist named David Eagleman. It’s called “Six Easy Steps to Avert the Collapse of Civilization” and it is absolutely breathtaking in its explanation of the value and the importance of the Internet, and I urge you to click on the link and sit back and enjoy a most fascinating hour and 45 minutes.

As you might suspect, my enthusiasm is partially based upon the fact that his vision is very much in harmony with the concept of the Coalescence. There is nothing in his lecture that I would disagree with, and I don’t believe he would disagree with any of the ideas advanced in TCGC, although he does not deal extensively with the financial system. Aside from that, however, his presentation is thoroughly entertaining, and filled with historical references and futuristic projections
